Nina Obuljen replaced Hasanbegović
Nina Obuljen is the new Croatian Minister of Culture. She worked at the Ministry of Culture for years, and has now replaced the controversial HDZ official Zlatko Hasanbegovic, whose dismissal was participated for months by the majority of the professional public, because of extreme right-wing statements and radical change of cultural policy directed against civil society and non-profit media, and also against a number of cultural institutions.
Nina Obuljen was already mentioned in media for weeks as the most likely candidate for the new Minister of Culture, although the new Prime Minister Andrej Plenković until the last moment refused to confirm these speculations that she could become a successor of Hasanbegović, being a person who is a good option for both left and right wings.
